Workshop 2: Linux Tips & Tricks

Prerequisite: None. This workshop is suitable for users of any age (freshman or above).

Description:
This workshop provides an introduction to the fundamental Linux concepts used for running programs and writing small scripts. Delivered in a hands-on format, it will cover the use of the command line—both on a local Linux workstation and through remote access with SSH. Participants will also learn the process of compiling and running programs, as well as gain an understanding of key shell environments, including Bash and Csh.
In addition, the workshop will explore the role of modern AI tools such as ChatGPT in the learning process. Examples will illustrate how AI can be leveraged to support command-line learning, assist with scripting, and provide on-demand guidance for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Participants will need to bring their own laptop to participate in the workshop.
