HPCC bioinformatics featured in 'The Quilt Circle'

Brian Couger, bioinformatics specialist for the OSU HPCC, discusses how OneNet's 100Gbps network benefits Oklahoma bioinformatics researchers in the 2017 issue of "The Quilt Circle", a magazine exploring trends and success stories in the high-speed networking industry.

Bioinformatics research often requires working with extremely large genomic datasets, which often have to be shared with collaborating researchers across the country and across the world. The 100Gbps OneNet network provides bioinformatics researchers at Oklahoma State University access to a high-speed network that is capable of handling these large datasets and without burdening the university's own networks.

OneNet, a division of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, has a mission to advance technology across Oklahoma. OneNet serves colleges and universities; research centers and laboratories; public and private schools; libraries; tribal organizations; hospitals and clinics; nonprofit organizations; and local, state and federal governments.
